I build and run bulkpdflabels.com on my own. That means I can't promise you a large accessibility team or a fast timeline — but it also means that when you email me about a problem, you are talking to the person who can actually fix it.

Here is where things honestly stand, and what I will do for you in the meantime.

I will build your label for you, free

If the visual designer doesn't work for you, you don't have to use it. Describe the label you need and I will build the template on your account at no charge. This is available on every account, including free ones.

Email me at [email protected] or use the contact form. Helpful things to tell me: the label size or the product code of the labels you buy, what goes on the label, roughly how it should be arranged, and which parts change from label to label. A plain description is plenty — don't worry about getting the terminology right. I'll ask about anything unclear.

For a straightforward label I'll normally have it done within about three business days. Complicated ones take longer, and I'll tell you the timeline when I reply rather than leaving you waiting.

What you get back is an ordinary saved template. From there you can generate single labels or run a whole spreadsheet through it yourself, as often as you like, without ever opening the designer. Want it changed later? Just ask.

To be straight with you about what this is: having me build your template isn't the same as being able to build it yourself, and I'm not pretending it is. It's here so my shortcomings don't stop you from using the product while I work on them.

What works well

Most of the site is ordinary web pages and forms — labeled fields, real headings, error messages that get read out. You don't need the visual designer to produce finished PDF labels:

• Every generator in the template library has a page where you fill in a form or upload a spreadsheet and download the PDF. No account needed.
• Single Label makes one label from a saved template using plain text fields.
• Batch runs a CSV or Excel file against a saved template for the whole run.

The hard part is designing the template, not using it. That's exactly why the offer above is worth taking me up on — once a template exists, everything after it is a normal form.

Where it falls short

The visual label designer — the drag-and-drop editor where you place text, barcodes and images — needs a mouse, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. You can add an element from the toolbar with the keyboard, but you can't reliably get back to it, move it, resize it or delete it without pointing at it. A screen reader can't tell you what's currently on the label. Images placed on a label have nowhere to store alternative text.

It's a custom editor I built around mouse input before I'd done this work properly, and fixing it is on me. Making the canvas keyboard-operable is an active priority. I'm not putting a date on this page that I'm not confident I can hit, but it is real work and not a line I've written to make this page look better.

In the language of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines: bulkpdflabels.com is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA — meaning parts of it don't meet the standard, namely the designer described above. That assessment is my own, based on my own testing, not an independent audit. It may well be incomplete, which is why the next bit matters.

Tell me when something doesn't work

If you hit a barrier anywhere — including things I haven't listed here — I'd genuinely like to know. Reports like that are how I find the problems my own testing misses.
